BABY PLEASE

Well, here I sit again, with too much time on my hands and these words popped into my somewhat overactive brain … it just always comes to me at once.

So, I am labeling this as my second attempt at writing a country song (the last one was about a year-and-a-half or so ago). If not a song, it’s probably my version of poetry … who knows.

Hope you enjoy.

Baby Please

She slammed the door behind her
Turned and walked away
And for the first time in my life
I didn’t have the words to say
Lost were all my memories
My hopes and all my dreams
She broke me up, she spit me out
I lost my everything
As she drove away
I found the words to say
Oh baby I love you so
If I could do it all again
I swear I’d let you in
I’ll open up my heart
Make a brand new start
Baby please, please, please, please please
Don’t go
Yesterday I saw her
Outside the Circle K
We passed in the parking lot
I was lost at what to say
We both stopped and turned
I got the nerve
To say you’re  looking fine
She said after all that we’ve been through
Sometimes it just takes time
As she drove away
I found the words to say
Oh baby I love you so
If I could do it all again
I swear I’d let you in
I’ll open up my heart
Make a brand new start
Baby please, please, please, please please
Don’t go
As I pulled out of the parking lot
They hit the driver side
I saw a single flash of light
Wasn’t sure I was alive
Lying still out on the black top
Going through old memories
Of me and her and all we shared
She came back and knelt over me
She said as I drove away
I found the words to say
Oh baby I love you so
If I could do it all again
I swear I’d let you in
I’ll open up my heart
Make a brand new start
Baby please, please, please, please please
Don’t go
I’ll stay right here beside you
I’ll never let you go
We can work this out
Without a doubt
Baby please, please, please, please please
Don’t go
Baby please, please, please, please please
Don’t go
Baby please … don’t go, baby … please
